Fantastic flying for Winter & new landing fields

Dry and crisp, awesome Autumn in Andalucia

Although bad for the farmers and our 350 olive trees the weather this Autumn/Winter has been marvellous for us. We have had only a handful of days of rain which has just been enough to green up the landscape. When the rest of northern Spain has been sheltering from the rain and under snow we have been flying Xc here until the last week of Novemeber. Gentle thermals, beautiful autumnal days with delightful soaring at Ronda La vieja or Montellano, just blissful.

Everyone flooding to Andalucia for Autumn

Winter has brought the usual mixture of International flyers and the New Year heralds new groups from Norway & Sweden. Even Steve Ham couldn´t keep away and spent two weeks of his three week tour of southern Spain in Algodonales!

We now have a twenty acre field set aside on the south east side of Lijar for pilots. The field is paid for by the local council and is part of their investment in the flying community here. There are to be further improvements to the westerley field next year. Our Xc progression courses run all over winter in Spain as do our Club Pilot Mentor Plus courses.
