April Club Pilot paragliding course a cracker!

Spring Kick offLearn to Paraglide Paramotor abroad with Fly Spain

It all kicked off alongside the pilot thermalling group as we headed to our newest site and were able to get a good ground handling session allowing the 2 guys joining the Club Pilot course to refresh and get back into the swing of it again.

In the afternoon we headed to Ronda la Vieja for some first soaring flights right up until sunset. Not a bad way to spend your Sunday afternoon and first-day paraglider training abroad.

Soaring & Top landing

The next couple of days were again at Ronda where we were able to soar and top land and really get lots of time in the air which so important when learning to paraglide. Alex and Richard were starting to make very nice reverse launches off the hill and the tasks were signing themselves. Deri Lewis who had already completed the Elementary Pilot course abroad with us was really starting to come into her own and was top of the stack on most occasions.

All the more satisfying as I know she had to move heaven and earth to get out to Spain for the week.

We did have a little more of the April fronts mid week which meant no lie in's for the guys as the early bird gets a flight and that is what we did despite a few yawns from both students and instructors. The cloudy conditions kept the sun at bay and allowed for some lovely smooth morning soaring. The guys had racked up over an hour of flying and in the afternoon. When the wind got stronger we had a chance to get our speed wings and groundhog out for a bit of kiting mayhem, with a bit of coaching the reverse launch was coming together with  Alex our Kiwi Marine showing that if your 22 it's easy.

We got to put it all in practice over the last days as we made some high 2000ft flights from El Bosque which is always a treat for UK students. Terry our OZ'y sail plane pilot breezed the course as did nearly everyone else and it was a shame to have to finish the week. Finish the week we did however in true FlySpain style with the Friday night meal and then the obligatory trip to Pepe's for beer and medals. Our mix of high and intermediate sites means we can regularly fly in all wind directions.
